problems with cd/dvd-writer/reader

well I just installed Fedora Core 3 and everything is working fine except my DVD-Writer/reader .. I can't find the driver .. any clue of what could be the problem?
this is really frustrating since I can't read/burn cds/dvds atm.. I had the same problem when I tried out Fedora Core 2 some months ago and therfore installed windows again and it all worked fine..

But I want to use linux so know here I am on FC3 but the driver isn't recognized at all

Any help would be greatly appriciated

Please provide more details about both the behavior you are seeing and the equipment you're using - it's pretty tough to make a suggestion for a DVD-RW without knowing what brand/model it is -- J.W.

I am using a "NEC ND-1300A" and the behavior I am seeing, well it is none, since the driver aint recognized at all .. its like it isn't there at all atm, allthough it worked out fine in windows when I had it installed. It's all activated when I check bios but there is no clue of it in FC3 :/

Are there any error messages during the boot process? If you try to access it does the system respond with an error message, and if so, what is it? Can you post the contents of your fstab file (in the /etc directory) -- J.W.

what I can see there is no error messages on startup.

I wouldnt know how to access the drive since it is not recognized

although I opened a audioplayer and it said "unit failed" or something like that, (translated it from swedish to english)
