Question Problems with audio link between BT878 tuner and HDA audio in 2.6.23

I've been beating my head against the wall for the past hour trying to figure out an issue with the audio link between a BT878-derived card (a Leadtek TV2000 XP with a Ymec TVision TVF-5533MF tuner-in-a-can) and an Intel HDA audio stack (an Analog Devices AD1988B on an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe) using the 2.6.23 kernel.

The M2N32-SLI has a four-pin auxiliary connector on the motherboard labeled CD, which the snd-intel-hda ALSA driver maps to the capture source 'CD'. I used the included cable to connect the auxiliary connector on the motherboard to its counterpart on the tuner. Despite using alsamixer to select 'CD' as an input source and then unmuting and activating/deactivating capture mode on the relevant mixer control, I can't get any sound whatsoever using either a sound recording utility or a TV application such as tvtime (which otherwise works perfectly).

Output from dmesg:

Code:

Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.14 (Fri Jul 20 09:12:58 2007 UTC).
http://pastebin.ca/803858 is the output of an info-gathering script published by Gruemaster; it contains the relevant userspace-displayed ALSA information for the M2N32-SLI's sound configuration.

Does anyone know what the problem may be? I'm guessing that the lack of any BT878-linked audio drivers being loaded by the kernel and the lack of any mixers on the card being exposed in the ALSA API may have something to do with the current problem.

the 4 pin cd connector is accepts plain analgoue signals

to confirm sound is actually leaving the tv card you can use this test.

hook a small speaker directly to the output on the tv card.

does a real cdrom drive work on this port?
