Problems booting from ST3160827AS

Hi,

I am using Debian Sarge and trying to make the 2.6.8-2-686 precompiled kernel image work, without success. I think that there is some problem with my ST3160827AS hard drive.

Actually I am running a 2.6.8 kernel image compiled by myself (!!!), but I would like to use Debian's image.

I have extracted the following from the boot sequence:

Code:
ide0: I/O resource 0X1F0-0X1F7 not free
ide0: ports already in use, skipping probe
...
pivot_root: No such file or directory
/sbin/init: 432: cannot open dev/console: No such file
Kernel panic: Attemted to kill init!
I do not really know how to deal with this SATA devices. Could anyone give me any clue?

Thanks very much,

Guillermo
