hey all , am following the instructions in the help.ubuntu.com to setup my modem but i stopped in this step as am new in linux ..can anyone tell me how to these two steps ?
-where is the /lib/firmware/ if i want to copy to it maually ?
-when i wrote this command sudo cp speedtch* /lib/firmware/ ,it asked for password and typed the login password but it refused,if it wants the root password where can i find it as i didn't choose root password ?

Copying the firmware into the right place.
Now we will copy the firmware files to the right place for the firmware to be loaded at boot time. This command will do the work:

sudo cp speedtch* /lib/firmware/

sudo requires your password, not root's.

Did it keep asking for a password, or did it give some other error?

it keep asking for password and when i enter the normal password it refuses it
please kndly answer the rest of questions
