Hi, I'm running ubuntu with 2.6.10-5-386 kernel and having problem using my lexmark e230 printer. I've tried to look for the driver from official site, and downloaded the driver .deb files, but after installing it, I couldn't make a printer que. The installer installed a program called 'lexprint', but somehow I don't think it works properly, and I gave up on it.

Then after that, I tried using 'system->administration->printing' menu, then added new printer, it detected my printer, but there's no printer type matches mine, the closest one is Lexmark E210, so I chose that one, and I use gdi driver (which is the only one available). After the printer que was made, I tried to print a test page, but what I got is just single piece of meaningless character printed over and over pages. Can anyone help me?

did you run /usr/local/lexmark/setup.lexprint ?

yes I did, still didn't work, when I tried to add a printer queue, it said 'failed to add printer queue'
