What is the make/model of your Disk On Module? If it is an IDE model then the board should recognize it like a regular hard drive?

The BIOS is what makes a motherboard tick. It is first thing the processor looks at when it powers up. Replacing the BIOS with a boot loader will not work work. I suggest buy a SSD with ECC instead of using disk on chip. SSD from MTRON seems good.
