Printing probelms RH9 GNOME

Hello people,

I have RH9 with Gnome Printer Manager

I have a parallel printer Canon BJC-265SP. It works fine under Windows XP.

When I boot up in linux Kudzu recognises the printer and allow me to cofigure it.

I used Gnome-gui to add the printer and it has been added successfuly as localy connected.

But when I come down to print the test page nothing happens!!!
Not even a flashing light!!!

I've checked the hardware browser and it sees the printer but driver is unknown?!?!?! even though I have selected it from the generic option when I configured it.

The driver is well known and also works for BJC-2500.

I've looked a bit everyhere on the net but without much answers...
I've tried a few things like selecting poscript or raw data instead of the canon generic driver and then I get my printer to print some funny stuff like:

%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%BoundingBox: 0 0 612 792
%%Pages: 1
%%LanguageLevel: 1
%%Documentda
ta: Clean7Bit

And so on...

Unfortunately I'm a newbie and dun't know much about the command line I could type in the terminal to try to solve the problem anybody could help?

Many thanks!!!
Thierry

This site seems to think that the autodection of this printer isn't valid, they recommend you to use a driver that they have a link to, check this out:

I would, but I can't until I get home. We only have Winblows machines here at work and it won't let me see what the files it actually wants you to download are.
