I have a HP LaserJet Pro M402n.
I am trying to print from linux mint 17.3
I get the message that my job is set to the printer, then that the job is finished printing
Nothing happens on the printer
HP setup doesn't detect the printer, which is plugged into a usb slot

What does 'lsusb' give you? Is it seeing the printer?

According to the HPLIP website, that printer is supported.

Have you tried the GUI interface (hp-toolbox) to install the printer? It's often a separate package from the HPLIP CLI interface in the repos.

I had weird experience with my very new HP printer. HPLIP could not find it (I think it was just too new for the version of HPLIP in Slackware 14.2), but KDE System Settings was able to find and install it.

I have tried the following:

hp Device manager - setup

Connection(io)type
Universal serial bus (usb)

I have also tried Manual discovery
001:010

No devices found in both cases
