printer sharing


is it necessary to set up samba for printer sharing?

the printer is locally attached to my linux machine using cups(localhost:631)

client will be winXP, and linux in the same network and win2000 from outside..

i'm not sure if i need samba..

thx for the help

yup. you need to setup samba. configure your printer first (locally) and then make sure that your smb.conf file has these lines enabled:

printcap name = /etc/printcap
load printers = yes
