possible fix for the Realtek (RTL8180L) chipset?


i have a netgear ma521 wireless card and i cant get it to work under linux like many other poeple. i did some searching on linuxant website and found this:

click on the linux link. are these drivers to get the chipset of work under linux? i opened the file and read the read me. it was over my head. i was hoping someone could take a look at it.

Hi,
this driver seems correct just need to have a 2.4 kernel to run it successfully (may work with 2.6 kernel.. but not sure)

These drivers do NOT work in 2.6 (I have tried). They only work for the kernel specified. I had to resort to LinuxAnt, that works superbly on Fedora Core 2. Though you need to remember to download the new version of LinuxAnt when you upgrade your kernel.

no, if it works for the 2.4.18 kernel, it will work for all 2.4 kernel... with minors modifications for some versions
