pen drives

I am running kernel 2.6.2 and want to use my pen drive. I plug it in after I am boot and want to be able to use it. Is this possible? I am running Slackware 9.1. Is there a better way to do it?

you am boot?

when you plug a usb pen drive in, the usb subsystem should pick it up and load the usb-storage driver for it, and then any further drivers, like sd_mod after that and allocate it an entry on the scsi bus, typically /dev/sda1. plug it in and check the output of "dmesg"

I added an entry to the hcl (thats the "hardware compatibility list") a few weeks ago for the Disgo USB Pen. If you click on the button marked hcl towards the top left of this page, you'll be taken to there. Select "External Storage Devices", then take your pick there are ton's of devices listed. Mine is under Other, but there is probably an entry for something like yours. Have a look round.

Cheers
Amos
