Greetings everyone. Well first of all I apologize if this isn't the right forum to start the topic ...but since I'm a linux user i figured there's no better place. I'm using an nForce3 chipset epox 9NDA3I motherboard and I've been stuck with using my onboard audio chip because I thought there was a problem with creative soundcards in fc4 and fc5. ..after months of googling on things I seem to have came across numerous articles about nforce3 chipsets and pci audio cards. I've tried a sb live and an old creative pci ensonique and both have similar erroneous behaviour. This can't be a linux issue since I haven't found a single mention of my problem. I imagine I'm just asking for confirmation of my possible problem.Have any of you had trouble with pci soundcards...and has anyone come across some info about pci soundcards and nforce3 motherboards. I would apreciate any assistance.
If you have a PCI soundcard and onboard sound, they potentially can conflict with one another. Trying getting into BIOS and disabling the onboard sound. Also, check for the basics -- is the speaker cable plugged into the right jack on the sound card, is the volume turned up, etc.
...well no, it's nothing basic ..disabling the onboard audio and everything else is something i'm ...quite familiar with ....creative sounds cards just won't work for me ....and i'd really hate to have to get myself a new motherboard becasue the onboard audio's a bit fried ......the problem i get from all creative sound cards is similar ...an audio file starts playing ...a very short portion of the file plays and it starts repeating over and over till the process eventually crashes
