PCI-E X1 dual head graphics card

Hi,
Does anyone know of an AMD/ATI PCI-E X1 card and which installs/operates SIMPLY/WELL under Linux? Currently I have :

RHEL5 2.1.16 kernel
Radeon 4850 with dual moitors
Piece of shit Dell motherboard with only 1 Pci-e X1 slot open.

I need to add two more monitors. But my options are limited because I only have a single PCI-E X1 slot open. I will not really be doing much high performance 3D stuff with it. its mainly a workstation for writing software. The main thing is that I would like for it to be configurable with the current Catalyst Control Center that i have installed, because its been a real pain in the ass already with the 4850= i have to rebuild everything with each kernel upgrade. Id get another 4850 but it is a PCI-e X16 card.

I guess they'll be configured with crossfire? Is this going to be a problem with different cards, and would it be wise to stick to AMD cards?

I've seen a few cards out there. but I'm just trying to get an idea of how things will work once they're in the box.

Thanks,

Andy

I used to have an ATI Radeon 9200, which was double-headed and had 512 MB RAM . . . it is really old now, but if you can find one, it was a great card for what you're talking about. One output was VGA and the other was DVI, but if you have the adapters, this is not an issue. At the time, I was using a monitor as one head and an HDTV as the other. It worked great! It was the first PCI-E Card that I ever had . . . so surely it will work on a just X1 slot. If you do go looking for one, make sure it's not the AGP version . . . the card was made in both configurations.

Hey,
Thanks again for your response. Are you running linux with that card? If so can you let me know how you've configured it? I've been using the AMD Catalyst Control Center, and have had ALOT of problems with it with my 4850 card alone.

Havent been able to install my new 4350 card with it because i cant afford the down time if I cant get it configured right after the insatll. I definitely anticipate problems.
