Pantum P2207 Laser Printer install problems with Fedora
I obtained a Pantum p2207 Laser printer. I had install the ppd files manually as Pantum was not on the list drivers, and the driver search during install did not pick up the printer.
After install and send a print to the printer, Cups fails with message "Filter Fails".
I have followed the recommendation on other forums to resolve, but to date I am not able to to get the printer to work. Also tried the generic PCL Laser driver with no success.
Cups debug files remains empty, even if I switch debugging on.
I need an expert in cups and printer configurations to take me further for the pantum p2207 printer on Fedora.
I noticed you left a message with Fedora. On first glance it cannot setup printer because it has no driver. How ever Pantum Ubuntu Driver V1.1.5.tar driver is available but as you can see it's for Ubuntu so take a look in the package manger and see if you have alien. If so you may be able to use the ubuntu driver. I'm not a cups guru but if it helps is a start.
I did use the Ubuntu drivers to obtain the ppd files. It install ok, but when trying to print, the message that comes up is "Filter Failed". I am trying to resolve the cups filtering issue. It could be driver, or it could be something in the cups libraries. I am not finding a resole or reason for this problem.
It is a P2207 (USB) model. I have already tried all the ballooned out solutions, and got nowhere. So any suggestions to start debugging from a point welcome.
Found this page trying to set up my Pantum P2502W, maybe this will help a bit
1. Extracted .tar.gz
2. Extracted pantum-1.1.5-amd64.deb in a subdir:
Code:
dpkg-deb -R pantum-1.1.5-amd64.deb .
3. Found & installed printer using "./usr/share/cups/model/Pantum/Pantum\ P2500W\ Series.ppd" in the extracted files
4. After install, dialog showed me that "/usr/lib/cups/filter/pt2500Filter" is missing -- so copied that file there & removed/set up the printer again.
5. Test page works!
Ok, one day when I can test it again, I will try this method. thanks for the tips which seems like a positive resolution.
