i installed nvidia video card driver, edited XFree file, ( u know, the usual)
but it seems like my computer is not using the video card? like when i try to watch a movie, the colour is still sort of black and whitish (plz dun tell me to edit the option in my video player (mplayer) cause i already have and it doesnt do anything)
so what's going on? before when i was using mandrake 9.2 and 10 rc1, as long as i can start X with nvidia, i can watch movie with real colour, but right now i can start X, but the colour is still the original no-video-card colour...
help plz, thx!
p.s: i am now using mandrake 10 community. also this time i noticed that i have to type modprobe nvidia before i start X for the first time, or else it won't work i dunno why
First, to fix the having to type 'modprobe nvidia' every time, you can just put stuff like that in one of your rc files (/etc/rc.d/rc.local, for instance), and it'll do it automatically. I don't know why it does that either.
Also, mine did the same thing after installing the nvidia drivers. Video looked mostly black & white, but greens and yellows were still kinda there. At least, it did that with Xine. Mplayer works fine for me, for some reason. I think it has to do with the nvidia driver only being able to work with some X video extensions and not others. In other words, way beyond my expertise. I'd love to know how to fix it so I could go back to using Xine, which I liked better..
well since no one bothers to reply, i'll have to help myself =)
indterminate, the way to fix this color problem is by adjusting your hue in your video player to zero. i dun know why this works, but when you do that your normal colours should return...
found this from another forum, the other person didnt know why either.
