@ilker4fun

you are not the OP but I notice you too have alc298.
Have you ever had sound?

to both you....assuming both have similar screenshot to ilker4fun.

lets have a look at your pins please

from my other post for different ALCnumber

Code:
sudo su
(input your password)
hdajacksensetest
that command comes on debian systems from package alsa-utils

leave the terminal open as we will repeat that bottom line command please

my results

Pin 0x14 (Green Line Out, Rear side): present = Yes
Pin 0x18 (Pink Mic, Rear side): present = No
Pin 0x19 (Pink Mic, Front side): present = No
Pin 0x1a (Blue Line In, Rear side): present = No
Pin 0x1b (Green Headphone, Front side): present = No

green line out goes to my desk speakers and I have sound to speakers.....OK

Next insert headphone and repeat the hdajacksense command....you are already root

I will show mine and explain
Pin 0x14 (Green Line Out, Rear side): present = Yes
Pin 0x18 (Pink Mic, Rear side): present = No
Pin 0x19 (Pink Mic, Front side): present = No
Pin 0x1a (Blue Line In, Rear side): present = No
Pin 0x1b (Green Headphone, Front side): present = Yes

top line...I have not removed line to speakers so OK
bottom line...I have inserted headphones....to a tower that has a front analog jack hole....its detected....etc

Leaping ahead....we may look at swapping pins.

I know I am not the OP but since I got the same problem, I thought I would be better to respond your post.

I installed hdajacksensetest which comes in alsa-tools on ubuntu 19,04 and test my sound.

Output before inserting headphone:
Pin 0x18 (Pink Mic, Rear side): present = No

Output after inserting headphone:
Pin 0x18 (Pink Mic, Rear side): present = Yes

I hope it helps

Yes I am sure you know your pins are wrong....but people come here to LQ from an internet search.
They may be mislead from our discussion....so I must formally ask you to now start a new thread
You may use a similar title to OP but include your correct model please.
When I read your new thread....I will offer you tests in changing your pins.

Leaping ahead...because you may not need me holding your hand?
run hdajackretask as a local user.
set the retasker to ALC298 if it currently shows as HDMI
go to the wrong pin....change it to its alleged corrrect setting
and test it.

I will explain more later.

In the meantime....we may have scared off the OP but he deserves replies only to his equipment please.
AND
his pins may already be correct.

Thanks in advance ilker4fun for your understanding of this.
Altho I am a pompous ass....we have to think of all users and not just our immediate selfish needs?

cheers and see you on your new post

EDIT

I have pre-empted your post as its not bed time for me yet...
see if this fixes your headphone.

You did not give me your speaker pins...do not reply here. reply to this post please....if you feel like it

Thank you for your time for trying to understand and maybe solving our problem. I will post my test results to that new thread you created. Thanks
