I have installed Redhat linux 8 on IBM Netfinity 5500 M20 Server. The installation process goes fine in graphical mode. It detect video drivers as S3 Trio 64 V2(Generic). After the installation process is over if i try to boot linux in Graphical mode the system hangs. It gives wierd display and stops responding. I have tried different resolutions & color depths. I 've faced the same problem with Redhat 7.2.
The Original video card/driver is S3 Trio 64 V2 / GX. I have tried with this one also but still the same problem persists.
How do i solve this problem???
Regards
Vishal
On Libranet 2.8.1 install, I am using a Netfinity 5000 8659-41Y with the S3 Trio 64V2/DX/GX, and although detected, xtest fails. No linux drivers available at IBM.COM and Libranet won't provide support.
