nforce2 and sound

Has anybody the onboard sound of a nforce2 chipset (not the soundstorm type) working with two apps useing sound at the same time?

I have an MSI K7N2G-L motherboard running Mandrake 9.1. I am using the i810_audio driver. I have had streaming mp3 playing on XMMS and opened an avi file in mplayer-gui and the sound from both is playing simultaneously.
