I am completely new to Linux (I have bought a copy just to evaluate the software)
I have installed Redhat Linux 9 onto a Dell Optiplex GX60.
This Dell has an Intel845 grpahics chipset and is causing me major problems.
I can adjust the screen resolution no problem but cannot get the scren to display at any res other than 640.480 when I increase the colour depth above 256 colours. (Obviously, this makes the screen look pretty bad).
I have downloaded the 845patch.tar.gz file but am having problems installing it.
I have untar-ed it to the 845patch folder but am getting stuck there. (At the 'make' bit)
Please, if you will, a cultural or language question. This is the second time I've seen this in less than a week - what does "spot on" mean? The words "mate" and "cheers" are also from a different culture than mine; but I assumed them to be Australian. And since your user cp doesn't say, where are you from?
