New HDD Problem (Controller Card)

Hi,

I have just added a new Silicon Image Controller card to my PC:
(RAID bus controller: Silicon Image, Inc. SiI 3114 [SATALink/SATARaid] Serial ATA Controller (rev 02))

I compiled support for this into my new kernel, 2.6.20, Now all my other SATA drives work fine running off the motherboard, but my new drive running off this controller card does not. According to dmesg the drive is detected and added as 'sdc' but theres no sign of it in fdisk -l for me to partition it or anything.

As you can see below, the correct 200gb Maxtor drive is found, but I cant work out why it isnt working

Dmesg Segment:

Hmm, that is strange.

What is the output of 'hdparm -i /dev/sdc'?
What is the output of 'fdisk -l /dev/sdc'?

Hi sorry for the delay ive been away, From both the above commands I get a fatal access error / drive path does not exist.

Ive done some more digging though, and found out my system only seems to like 2 SATA drives being plugged in for boot? If i plug 3 in only 2 work, regardless of if they are in the controller or motherboard.

But, if I plug my 3rd drive in to a sata port once the system has booted, then its detected and works fine as sdc, it shows up in fdisk for partitioning e.t.c

So its just a problem with it setting up the 3rd disk during boot, and I have no idea whats causing it.

Anyone got any ideas? Ive checked all my bios settings.

Thanks,
Jack
