New Bie wants help on his modem

I have downloaded and installed Mandrake Linux 8.2 on my system....everything seems to work fine but only problem is with my modem.....I cant connect to the internet....in control panel it doesnt even show me my modem!
How can I get my modem working under it?

I have Apache PCI modem H56K....any guidence?

Do a search engine search for "Linux Modem HOW-TO" (try it at google.com/linux - kudos to Bert for link)

The modem HOW-TOs should explain everything (I hope so, anyway, cause I'm about to install my own modem
