Network Printer issue, hplip error.

I dunno if this is a bug or if its just I who suck horribly.

What happens? When I try to print something the printer makes a little clicking noise but then doesnt do anything. Cups webadministration interface gives the error message "/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups failed".

Computer running Debian Squeeze and the printer being Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet P1005 attached via network.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

The min version of HPLIP is 2.8.2
The hp-check utility will verify if all the required libs etc are installed and checks the communication with the printer. It is possible that the hplip could of been built with the wrong options.

My €0.02¢ is that hplip sucks.

I moved to foo2zjs and have not looked back, except to make sure hplip is not installed.
