Unhappy NetMos PCI Multi I/O 9835 problem

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and I wish I could get some help here.

I recently bought a NetMos PCI controller that gives 1 parallel
and 2 serial ports. I'm on Ubuntu 7.10 with the 2.6.22 kernel.

It is listed when I type lspci:
Quote:
04:07.0 Communication controller: NetMos Technology PCI 9835 Multi-I/O Controller (rev 01)
Subsystem: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic 1P2S
Control: I/O+ Mem- BusMaster- SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
Status: Cap- 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 22
Region 0: I/O ports at 9400 [size=8]
Region 1: I/O ports at 9000 [size=8]
Region 2: I/O ports at 8c00 [size=8]
Region 3: I/O ports at 8800 [size=8]
Region 4: I/O ports at 8400 [size=8]
Region 5: I/O ports at 8000 [size=16]
Before I bought this card, I started to develop a small program with something called "parapin" in C that controlled the parallel port on my previous computer.
The problem is that my program is no longer working with my new NetMos PCI controller and I can't get any outputs from it (even by changing the port address in my program... and I'm quite sure this not a problem from my program because it works fine on other computers).

I already checked a thread on the same topic on this site but it seems old and the way to solve the problem is no longer working.
Do you know what I should do to make the parallel port work?

From the install documents that came with the card, or also located at the NetMos website:

/sbin/modprobe parport_pc io=0x3f8,8000 irq=4,22 # 8000 comes from your lspci output.

Post Issue with Netmos 9845 + ubuntu 8.04

Hi All,

We have installed the Ubuntu on My CPU with ubuntu 8.04 yesterday, and it freezes,It works well with Ubuntu 7.04 and 9.04, One thing i noticed is its some thing to do with netmos addon serial card. If i discard this system boots fine. Can any one help me in resolving the issue.

Normal installtion fails, when i install with the live cd it freezes while installting at copying files 75% for ever. So i shooted the clone to bring up the system. After discarding the addon serial card it boots, but when i add it back it freezes again.

Thanks,
Srikanth.G
