need extra serial ports

I have a lab setup where I would like to monitor multiple debug ports on various embedded targets (all serial ports).

I am trying a multiport card, the SIIG IO1086, which adds 4 x 16550 type UARTS.

The PC is an old dell w/PIII which has one serial port provided on the motherboard.

I cannot access any of the ports ttyS4-7. Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?

- Ian

I am running the latest fedora distribution.

On bootup, the systems seems to find the card and serial ports, as I get this in the dmesg:

agpgart: AGP aperture is 64M @ 0xf4000000
serio: i8042 AUX port at 0x60,0x64 irq 12
serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1
Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 8 ports, IRQ sharing enabled
ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
PCI: Found IRQ 3 for device 0000:00:0e.0
ttyS4 at I/O 0x1400 (irq = 3) is a 16C950/954
ttyS5 at I/O 0x1408 (irq = 3) is a 16C950/954
ttyS6 at I/O 0x1410 (irq = 3) is a 16C950/954
ttyS7 at I/O 0x1418 (irq = 3) is a 16C950/954

running setserial on /dev/ttyS4, I get:

/dev/ttyS4, Line 4, UART: 16950/954, Port: 0x1400, IRQ: 3
Baud_base: 115200, close_delay: 25856, divisor: 0
closing_wait: 44032
Flags: spd_normal

lspci gives:
