Multiple terminals one computer

Hi Im insterested in setting up multiple terminals in one computer, say having one CPU and a total of 6 monitors, its cheaper to buy 6 set of monitors, videocard, mouse and keyboard thatn 6 whole computers. I know this can be done with linux, I have Ubuntu with Gnome running on kernel 2.6.11. But I really have no idea of how to set this up. Suggestions about where to start?

thanks for all your help

You can set up 6 monitors but I dunno about 6 keyboards and mice. For the monitors, you would just add three 2 head video cards and then configure them. You would use an option called xienerama that would make it that you could put stuff you opened on the first monitor to the 4th one or 6th one, basically you would control all 6 monitors from 1 comp with 1 keyboard.

The only thing I can think of is Serial Terminals. Just dumb terminals but still require hardware and not very fast. Not even sure they can do anything gui related. Better off to goto computer fairs and look through the outdated surplus borads and build a cluster server out of them. They may not be powerful enough alone but put together they are strong.
