Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Moving subdirectories to another partition or it's own?

I would like to take an existing install and spread some of the more used subdirectories to other partitions. Is there a tutor somewhere that I can read on how to do this? For example I would like to move /var and /home to another drive/partition with more space.

Any help would be appreciated.
