mouse scrolling function


to whom it may concern: here is the content of my xorg.conf for my mouse, but still i can't make the scrolling action. . .-actually i just followed this content from some posters here. . .but still i can't make it. . .could anybody from the group help me on this? my mouse is logitech and it is optical.. do you think it is in the mouse brand?


Section "InputDevice"

# Identifier and driver

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Buttons" "5"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"

Try this:
Code:
Section "InputDevice"
	Identifier  "Mouse1"
	Driver      "mouse"
	Option	    "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
	Option	    "Device" "/dev/mouse"
	Option	    "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
	Option	    "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
This is how my config file is set up
you can try with or without the
Optoin "Buttons = 5"
depending on your preference

also, make a backup copy of the file before changing it.:
# mv xorg.conf xorg.conf.backup

that way you will have the original to refer/revert to.

Haha noob. (joking)

I'm glad you got it working, I too forget to do that somtimes. I have to say it's so much better than having to reboot the entire machine though.

i have almost the same problem, but changing xorg.conf doesn't work=(
my config:
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"

but wheel doesn't work=(
mouse is usb MS wheel optical
