mouse doesn't work, new slackware 10.2 installation

Hi,
I'm new.
I just installed Slackware 10.2. The kernel version is 2.4.31

Problem: in the gui (blackbox), the mouse pointer jumps to one corner of the screen as soon as I touch the mouse, and after that I can't move the pointer at all. sometimes if i right-click it jumps in kind of a box pattern until it reaches the corner of the screen, and then i can't move it again. I haven't really done anything to fix it -- all i know how to do from the command line is look around, and i'm pretty lost.
Any suggestions? Thanks

What mouse do you have?

I use PS/2 and it worked for me, I've never tried Serial or USB though.

serial mouse

I have a serial mouse, and I think I remember in the initial configuration I told it to use a serial mouse. I've tried a usb mouse and a ps/2 with no luck.

Connect your PS/2 mouse, then run:
Code:
pkgtool
from the console.

Choose to run setup scripts again and select the one for mouse, go and set it up as PS/2.

Hope that works!
