after installation PS/2 mouse doesn't work

During installation my PS/2 mouse worked fine, but afterwards it doesn't recognize that it is there. I'm using Mandrake 8.2 and a compaq PS/2 wheel mouse. Any ideas?

Your "InputDevice" section in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 should have something like this

Quote:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection
Sometimes you'll have "PS/2" there (only the IMPS/2 will recognize the wheel so you can use it to scroll around), and that messes up the mouse movement.

Hope it helps,
mlp
