Hi,
I got a the 2.6.8.1 kernel working and am trying to get my devices working. I have a sony cd-rw 260e, I think. It works in my mandrake 9.1 kernel as /dev/scd0. when I boot into the new kernel I can't mount the device. I used lsmod and found I was missing sr-mod and sg, but I was able to load them. I can see the cd as a scsi device by catting it in /proc. The cdrom device points to a folder called cdrom which points to the cd drive in the scsi folder. I have been able to mount the device as root using the command(s):
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom ,as well as
mount /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom , after typing the following command
cd /dev && rm cdrom && ln -s scd0 cdrom , which was found in the cd-rw howto.
At one time the command 'mount /mnt/cdrom' worked as root and as user.
After rebooting I can only mount the device by using any of the long forms as root from above. Fstab is correctly set up as follows
my network is down so expect mistype)
/dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 user,codepage=850,noauto,ro 0 0
This is what the mandrake 9.1 kernel uses.
EDIT: The message I get from mount /mnt/cdrom is something like 'wrong fs, bad superblock on /dev/scd0, bad option, or too many mounted fiesystems.
Thanks in advance,
Jarin Scott
