Modprobe doesn't work but ISAPNP detects card
I am installing slackware (Latest version.) on a 486 single board computer with onboard 8019 realtek network controller. you can not disable PNP on this device.
I have configured ISAPNP to detect this card and it finds it on boot up. However modprobe doen't find the card. The card is set up on 0x220 irq 9. I run:
modprobe ne -io=0x220 -irq=0x9
and it doesn't find the card. Anyhelp would be appricated.

you are probably probing with the wrong module.
look for one like realtek, or rltk80xx or something.
you probably wont need the io and irq settings.
