Modem config manual choice error

When trying to configure my HSP56 modem I get the following gmessage:

Modem Config, Manual choice, Com1;

Unexpected error: can't use undefined value as an ARRAY reference at /usr/bin/perl-install/network/modem. pm line 21

Has anyone any ideas - I am trying to complete installation of my peripherals on Mandrake 10.1

Thanks in advance,
