i deleted two partitions then created one out of the space, i got fstab fixed to my new situation and it mounts and unmounts good, but df does not recognise the correct size, cfdisk shows it to be around 20 gigs, but df shows it to be only 4.1 gigs and i can not copy 8 gigs files over becuase the system thinks it is full but i know it is not...
i believe hdparm is what will fix this or something that will tell it the correct size, any hints? or ideas...
You partitioned it, but have you formatted the new partition yet (you didnt mention doing this!)? You are probably able to mount it based on what was there in the first of the two original partitions - but I would really advise not doing so. Depending on where the different commands read their info, you could be in for a strange ride if you have not yet.
let me ack this question another way, /dev/hda5 is actually 20234.19 gigs but Linux only sees 4.1 gigs, what command will make Linux see all 20 gigs of /dev/hda5
