Mandrake 10 and Radeon AIW 9200 issues

First of all, I went to ATI's site and downloaded the rpm and installed it. I have a Radeon AIW 9200 128MB AGP. It installed fine and when I go into the mandrake control center and check out the harware profile it shows as having the 9200 installed. The problem I'm having is very poor quality when playing games and what not. I've tried Tuxracer and Chromium and I can barely move the mouse around and everything but the sound is ok. Any suggestions on what I need to do next???

make sure that you have either:

removed mesa libs, without deps.
or
installed the rpm with the force option

check

fglrxinfo

and make sure you CANNOT see any refs to Mesa in the OpenGL version string.

Also check that the agp module (if set) has loaded at boot, you can do this with

if it hasn't then

modprobe via-agp

(on 2.6.x series of kernels)

you can test if the 3D accel is working ok with

glxgears

i'm running a 9700 pro x8 agp and get 3500~ fps
