Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Making use of non-linux printers on linux by way of Windows proxy

Suppose a printer is not supported on linux, officially or unofficially (ie linuxprinting.org indicates that the printer is useless). Is there a way to make a Windows machine into a virtual network PostScript printer, and proxy the data through the Windows printer driver?

Normally if I were to simply share the printer on the samba network from Windows, client machines still must have their own version of a printer driver. IMO, it should really be the job of the printer server that drives the output device.
