Question magicgate memory card driver

i have a sony vaio laptop with a magicgate slot in it that vector sees but when i put a duo stick in it, it cannot be read, i've been told that linux distros cant do these cards as of yet because of the driver something or other...my question is, i have the sony vaio recovery disks and driver recovery disks, would it be possible to make the original driver for this device work on linux and if so which program would i use to install the driver?
