Losing ALSA confifuration at each reboot ...

Hi,

I updated Debian Lenny recently and each day, when I turn on my machine I need to rerun "alsaconf" for some reason. My audio then works again. Infact, if I try running alsamixer whe the audio is not working, I can't see any volume adjustments.

WHen I run it agian after having run alsaconf, the volume scrollers are all in place. I've tried runnning "alsactl store" too to save the configuration but nothing ....

kernel 2.6.24-1-686 on Debian Lenny with alsa 0.99.80-1.

I'm sure I came across a similar problem in the past but can't remember how I got through it ....

Thanks
ANtonio

Did you do it as root?

Or try updating ALSA to 1.15

Is your audiocard faulty?

Modules?

do you need special options... like for some snd-hda-intel users?

Yes, done as root.

Update to alsa 1.15? BUt the experimental distribution hasn't reached 1.0 if I'm not mistaken. I'll have a closer look this evening.
