LIRC - two remote controls conflicting...

Hi!

I have a problem with my TV tuner (Pinnacle/serial) and my VCR remote controls (Funai NA690). They seem to have the same freq and because of this they conflict...
I have set up LIRC and associated some TVtime functions for my Pinnacle, but when I press a button on the Funai, LIRC recognizes the signal if it were two button-presses on the Pinnacle (generally two Ch+, other buttons Ch+ and MENU, yet anothers Ch7 or double Ch7).

I compiled the lirc modules (lirc_dev and lirc_serial), set them up and tried 'mode2' to get the raw signal, but it outputs nothing (not even with the Pinnacle) -- according to the docs,"for most receivers it even won't work because it makes no sense"

I think the Funai sends more bits than the Pinnacle, and the recognised ones are only the initial bits of the signal, because on many buttons they are the same -- is there a way to filter and ignore them?

i don't know about that but you could as a temporary measure set the repeat value for these buttons in lircd.conf to 0.
It's a little inadequate but it should stop lircd from accepting two button presses

Okay, but then every time I press any button on the VCR remote control, TVtime changes a channel or goes to Channel 7 (this time only once...)

ok i just remembered something.
I had a problem like this and it wasn't the repeat value on the individual buttons I used it was in the setup for the individual remotes. I used irrecord to setup each remote then combined these two generated files into one lircd.conf. I then on the troublesome remote deleted the repeat section FOR THE REMOTE. not for individual buttons. This means that the remote in question is incapable of 'sending' repeat signals or rather lirc ignores repeat for that remote. In your case since the two remotes are sending very similar codes I'm not sure if this would work.
Incidentally the problem I had was due to the remote configuration not having been done properly and retraining lirc solved the problem. You may need to train lirc for each remote to make it work. Provided buttons that are supposed to have the same function have the same name in lircd.conf you shouldn't need to change your .lircrc file.
I hope this is remotely helpful or your problem is beyond my knowledge
