laptop use a cdrom with ide-usb cable

I hope you can understand my English,I will try my best.

my loptop has no cdrom,so I brought a Samsang cdrw/dvd sm352b cdrom and use a ide-usb2.0 cable.(This will be cheap.)
I can mount the cdrom and read from it.
[root@localhost iso]# mount /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom
mount: block device /dev/scd0 is write-protected, mounting read-only

[root@localhost iso]# cdrecord -scanbus

Note: The author of cdrecord should not be bothered with problems in this version.
scsidev: 'ATA'
devname: 'ATA'
scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2
Warning: Using badly designed ATAPI via /dev/hd* interface.
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/hd*'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.

but I can't write cd.
when I use k3b,it return error when writting.
when I use cdrecord /dev/scd0 XXX.sio
cdrecord: No write mode specified.
cdrecord: Asuming -tao mode.
cdrecord: Future versions of cdrecord may have different drive dependent defaults.

Someone said I should pass something to kernel and someone said I need not do that because my kernel is 2.65.
What should I do?
