I tried using Knoppix on my desktop system a couple times over the past few days and have a pretty nasty problem. Actually the problem also occurs with Mutagenix, a Slackware based live cd. When I boot from the cd, I get a nasty lock up within 2-40 seconds of loading X. The display often shows multicoloured pixels over random areas of the screen. I have ordered a faster case fan, vga cooler and cpu cooler. My case is running a little too warm for my liking. I pull the sides off the case and I still have the same problem. I did get both live cds to boot however when I removed my Nvidia 7800 gt and used my onboard Intel video. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with a similar problem? Is this totally heat related or something to do with the nvidia drivers on the live cds or what? Thanks
