Keyboard on USB adapter loses events

Hello, I use an external keyboard and mouse with a USB adapter on a laptop. It works fine, but unfortunately the keyboard very often uses keyevents. This is nasty when it doesn't notice the keyrelease, so the letter is repeatedddddddddddd... an the next time I press this key, it won't be recognised, since the key was already pressed, wasn't it?

How could I resolve this problem? Is there a way to automatically create keyrelease-events? It wouldn't be so tragic if the auto-repeat wouldn't work any more (except maybe for the arrow keys)

I'm pretty sure it's the USB adapter's fault; on a normal PS2 port the keyboard works fine, but the laptop doesn't have one.

Oh, I don't know whether this is of any importance, but I have Suse 9.1.
