Kernel 2.6.35 - bad lm_sensors readings

Hello,

With kernel 2.6.35 I get wrong readings on lm_sensors. They are about 20°C off than the real values (e.g. if the CPU is at 50°C, lm_sensors will show 70°C).

If I boot with any other kernel (like 2.6.32) I get the correct values.

Any suggestions? I'm using the 'coretemp' module on an Acer 7720 laptop. My distro is 64-bit Arch Linux.

Thanks!

You can change the sensor calibration in /etc/sensors.conf, with a line that looks something like (with @ being the voltage reading of the thermistor I believe)

compute temp1 ((0.345 * ((1.20 * @) - 62.77)))

there are notes in the config file on how to do this, but unless you can find someone who has done the calibration for your chipset or some other information, it's a matter of tweaking the values until they match what your bios reports.

There may well be a simpler answer, but I don't know what it is. Hope this helps

Actually, I think I discovered why. At dmesg I get

Code:
renan@sanctuary ~ % dmesg | grep coretemp
coretemp coretemp.0: TjMax is assumed as 100 C!
coretemp coretemp.1: TjMax is assumed as 100 C!
Which is wrong: the Tjmax for my processor is 85°C (based on what I could find on Google for similar models, the same "Merom" architecture but with different clock speeds - I will install Windows when I have the time and run Core Temp/Everest on it to get more informations).
