Is HDD failure a possibility? - Urgent!

I have LM 10.1 official running for the last 6 months or so as a file server in my school. Today the following message started appearing in my logs:-

kernel: VFS: busy inodes on changed media.
last message repeated 16 times
last message repeated 31 times
etc.

I have an Maxtor SATA HDD in my machine. Am I in trouble?
Would I be advised to change my HDD?

I have also noticed that in the last few weeks that if I run a virus scan (for my win XP file) the machine is very likely to freeze without any info in the log files.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hint: it's in poor taste to use words like "urgent" or "help" in titles. By posting a question everyone already knows you need help, and urgency on your part does not constitute an emergency on others' parts. Folks here usually respond as soon as they come across threads, so. . .

ANYWAY:

Check out smartmontools - start smartd, then use smartctl to query your drive's S.M.A.R.T. routine and find out if the hard drive is in danger of imminent failure.
