Question IRQ of FDDI card is desactivated...

Hello,
I try to use my FDDI card (SN DEFPA-DB from DEC) on linux 2.6.8.1 (Mandrake 10.1) on a new PC with Intel P4 FSB800 SATA.
When the driver defxx is activated, ethereal does not work any more (on FDDI and on ethernet also!), and after one day, my IRQ of FDDI card is desactivated.

This card was working on an old PC with linux 2.4 (RedHat 7.2).

Is it a material bug, due to incompatibility between this old card and a new PC? The driver defxx is not up to date for this distribution 2.6.8.1?

I'm really thankful for answers.
