iPad Mini 4 vs. Linux Mint 18.3. I cannot transfer files from one to the other.

I've tried three things:

1. Just plugging it up and hoping that the computer saw it as a storage device (like it does when I plug my Android phone up to it).

2. Downloading Dukto on the iPad and the laptop.

3. Connecting the two with Bluetooth.

None of these work. Fortunately, Linux does recognize that the iPad is plugged up to it. It shows up as a storage device and even says iPad.

I don't even really know how to start troubleshooting this. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Here is the hw/sw information for my computer:

How old/new might this ipad mini be and what version of ios are you running? I found the tutorial at the link below which is very long and extremely detailed and it also worked to access an iphone 7 with ios 11.1.2 as well as a new Ipad. If you have the time and can follow simple instructions it should work. It works to copy/transfer from the ipad or iphone to the computer but the only thing I can write to is photos on icloud. You would probably need to use ssh or something similar.

It's a brand new iPad and I just upgraded the OS to the latest one (11.2.1)

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
