You'll need to edit your XF86Config file. Do this as root:
Code:
mcedit /etc/X11/XF86Config
Under the
Code:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "MouseSomethingOrOther"
Driver "mouse"
Change 'Option "Protocol" "auto"' to
Code:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
and add
Code:
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
before EndSection

Restart X and the wheel should be working.

Thsi post worked out great for me. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...+file+download

FYI: My mouse is a PS/2(Used USB to PS/2 donlge) 5 button /w wheel

I did whoever have trouble compiling the imwheel software. The *damn* Makefile couldn't not make the manual files. I figured fscked it and I replaced all the references between SED and TEXI2HTML to "ls" in the file: source-root/gpm-1.19.3/doc/Makefile

I did that, and it still doesn't work. Here is that section of XF86CONFIG.
Section "InputDevice"

# Identifier and driver

Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"

# Mouse-speed setting for PS/2 mouse.

# Option "Resolution" "256"

# When using XQUEUE, comment out the above two lines, and uncomment
# the following line.

# Option "Protocol" "Xqueue"

# Baudrate and SampleRate are only for some Logitech mice. In
# almost every case these lines should be omitted.

# Option "BaudRate" "9600"
# Option "SampleRate" "150"

# Emulate3Buttons is an option for 2-button Microsoft mice
# Emulate3Timeout is the timeout in milliseconds (default is 50ms)

# Option "Emulate3Buttons"
# Option "Emulate3Timeout" "50"

# ChordMiddle is an option for some 3-button Logitech mice

# Option "ChordMiddle"
# Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

EndSection
