Intel DualCore CPU 820 and Linux

I have just ordered a new intel DualCore 2.8 Ghz. I was wondering if they were any specific option I had to include in my kernel to have the best performance? and to make it work properly...

Also my use of this processor will be mainly for image resizing (with ImageMagik) do you think the performance will be better than a P4 3.0Ghz FSB800 Hyperthreading CPU?

Thanks

Claude

The dual core will be able to handle more threads quicker than the HT enabled single core processor. But performance wise per thread will be worse due to slower clock speed and longer pipeline.
