Installing to HP NetServer 6000r U3?

Has anyone had any luck installing to a dual-Pentium III HP NetServer?

I've tried several distros with no success. The latest attempt was with Mandriva 10.2 (2005 LE) and it fails due to an inability to insmod drivers for the megaraid, complaining about "/modules/modules.mar no such file."

Have u tried debian? I have installed debian on a HP Proliant Server with no problem.

No, I haven't tried Debian yet, but I certainly will.

Can you confirm:

- Were you able to get past the MegaRaid issue(s)?
- Did you disable RAID or anything "special"?
- Is Debian freely available, or did you use a commercial variant?

I can't remember if our Proliant server was using MegaRAID (it's no longer in my office) but I did remember that I purchased a CD pack called Proliant Essentials Foundation Pack to manage the RAID Controller. After configuring the RAID Controller, that it where I start installing debian.

Raid was working fine, nothing special except that I configured it first with the CD Pack from HP.

Debian is freely available debian.org
