Installing Fedora 12 to external 160 GB hd on Raid system
Hello:
I am trying to install Fedora 12 from the dvd. I have a 160 GB raid system and an 160 GB external usb hd. There are no dips switches on the outside of the exteranl drive.
The Fedora install program finds the raid hd which is format to NTFS. It doesn't find the external hd.
I used Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 (which a partitioning and multiboot program) to partition a 50 GB ext3 partition. I set the partition type as logical. The rest of the drive is NTFS, and I set the partition type to logical.
I tried installing both Fedora Live cd and Fedora Live KDE cd. They both detected the external drive as sdb1 157 GB. The install programs asks if I want to boot from another hd than the installed drive. The install completes successfully.
The Bios boot order is sata hd, cdrom, and usb whic is the order Acronis's documentation said to use for linux.
I was wondering if I had to make a linux ext3 partition on the raid hd and try installing from the dvd?
Thanks.
