Installing a Hard Drive with Preexisting Data?

Okay, I recently (read today) started using Linux, Mandrake 10.1 to be specific, as I had a hard drive crash and needed a new operating system to go along with my new hard drive.
Anyway, I am wondering how to get Linux to read my secondary hard drive without erasing the data already there.
All I know is that Linux can see the drive, and has it listed as hdb.
Thank you in advance.
